My Gay Paris: Yoann Gourcuff, a gay-friendly football player

French football has a rising star, and surprisingly enough, he’s also a gay icon: Yoann Gourcuff. He’s 25 years old, and indeed, he is very attractive. He is talented and it has been said of him that he is the best player of his generation. Starting his career in FC Lorient in Western France, he quickly moved to more and more important teams: Rennes, AC Milan, Bordeaux, and his current team, the very successful team Olympique Lyonnais. He is the one who took the role of Zinedine Zidane in the French national team, which had never been filled since Zidane retired in 2006.
In 2009, the major French gay magazine Têtu starting featuring him in a few articles: he was elected ‘bombe du mois’ (literally, bomb of the month, which applies to someone very hot), because he is indeed very sexy, and because he was starting to become quite famous at the time. Gourcuff has all the attributes of a sex-symbol, but he is also witty and well-educated… which is not the case for every football player. Don’t dream too much, Yoann Gourcuff isn’t gay, he is straight. But the way he undressed and did a strip-tease once at a game couldn’t be better to attract the attention of gay men.

The article in Têtu led to a lot of buzz among gay blogs and that’s how he started becoming a gay icon. The good thing is that Gourcuff doesn’t really mind, and seems even to like it. That’s good news for football, which has a strong reputation of being homophobic. And that’s good news for those of you who like to watch a nice guy such as Gourcuff, with knowing that he doesn’t care. We added a few pictures to this article so that you can decide if Gourcuff deserves his iconic reputation.
