The beach is back to the banks of the Seine, giving Parisians and tourists alike a chance to spend a day at the seaside.
This year, city authorities wanted to attract even more people down to the river by offering a selection of new activities.

Ages 6-17: the zip-wire is the latest addition to the canal, where adventure-seekers will be able to cross the bassin de la Villette in just a few seconds.

Go-karts at the Rotonde
Ages 6-12: France’s motorsport organisation has teamed up with Paris Plages for the first time with its ‘young karters’ activity, which is designed to encourage participation in motorsport and respect for the environment. After learning about road safety, kids will be able to follow a track around the Rotonde on eco-friendly electric go-karts.

Try an e-reader at Quai de la Loire
French bookstore and record shop chain Fnac has opened a space to show off its Kobo by Fnac e-reader. You can borrow a device, take a seat on a deckchair in the sun and take your pick of up to a thousand titles from a full catalogue of over two million books.

“My Paris Plages” Photography Contest
Lafarge, one of the long-standing partners of Paris Plages, has organised a photography contest via Instagram, a mobile app used for showing photos and videos. If you take a stroll by the beach, you can upload your best photos of Paris Plages, and a committee of celebrities and professional photographers will choose a winner.
