My Gay Paris: Be part of the first Paris design week !

The first Paris Design Week is launched! And it is a multi-faceted way to look at design : interior design, graphic design, of course, but it also embraces the decorative arts, and even gastronomy.

It’s a pretty broad way to look at what design is, and that’s for the best Paris surely wants to be identified as a European design capital, competing in that respect with Milan, London, and Berlin. The challenge here is to truly integrate design in the streets of the city: indeed, visitors will have the opportunity to follow a dedicated walk around Paris to meet the works of some sixty young designers chosen to exhibit together. More than a hundred spaces take part in the event: art galleries, avant-garde shops and concept stores, art schools…

The path will take you to the design centers of Paris, such as the Marais, République or the area surrounding the Champs Elysées, but also to other neighborhoods worth visiting for the occasion, such as the changing area around Bibliothèque François Mitterrand. This represents a genuine opportunity to discover the town in a unconventional way… and to update your tastes to the latest French fashion. And who knows, it might be a good excuse to run into the most exquisite designers and artists… and their most exquisite customers.

Evertthing you need in that respect is to visit the Paris Design Week website. It contains all the information you need about the shops and the designers which made this event possible, and a well-thought interactive map to guide your steps.

Also, check out the programme so that you can be present to the cocktails and the exhibitions openings during that very special week, where you will be able to meet locals and fellow visitors. It is still warm and nice outside, it might be your last chance to experience Paris’ summer in a gentle way…
